Why Lisboa...

despite the dark clothes most people wear, the constant complaints about how hard life is, the genetic fear of losing or winning (the last one because the common belief is that you will eventually loose what you won), living in Lisbon allows me to sometimes live days like this (in the picture), and these days feel like happy days...

this continous heartache that weakens me...

Nils Frahm – Said And Done (live at Haldern Pop Festival 2010) from Erased Tapes on Vimeo.

I regularly watch inspirational videos and I think about the way I think about things, and I try to be a good person (except when I’m in a hurry, then I do loose a bit of my grip) and, despite my effort, right here, in my heart, I’m always so sad... I believe in the wisdom of the heart, I believe in spontaneity, in laughing with joy, bathing in the sun, I believe in playing with sweetness and cleverness! I believe that life should not be wasted with silly annoying things, with ugly things, with things that are negative, things that are a pure waste of time, shallow things... and yet, I feel that I’m living a life full of all those things. I spend too much time alone, I spend too much time on the computer, I don’t create anything, I don’t share anything that is my own. I like to dance, I like to paint, to draw, I love to write and to listen to music. I love to help others with my strength, I love to feel that I’m doing something useful. I love to build castles in the sand with a friend or friends. Oh man, I get inspired so often! But my hands are dormant, my head is empty... I’m sad. I think that I if had my own window, from where a warm light could be seen from outside, then I wouldn’t feel so misplaced. I would be reading, or writing or listening to my favorite songs, and friends would ring at the door. What is it that makes me feel like I don’t fit anywhere? Where should I be? what should I be doing to really be the full me? I have so much to give, but I think I might be broken...

Mending...

Beautiful performance from artist Beili Liu Building from little pieces, mending, making sense of fragments, memories, taking the time to make sense... "she is in control, she is in charge, she is the one that creates, in this frightening environment (scissors above). When facing uncertainty and concern, the best that we can do is something really simple, with calmness and persistence some change can happen"

Into the Storm

I like these days of natural chaos. Big waves, strong winds, crazy rain... I just feel like getting into that mixture. To let my body get soaked wet, salty, messy. It's good to be one with the elements and not run from them. But, oh well, I did know about this warm, cosy place, where I could just get "safe" again. Lots of Grattitude!

Your Soul...

... is stronger than you imagine.
... is more powerful than you believe.
... is more knowledgeable than you think.

Trust in Your Higher Self and loose the Ego.

Outuno...

Agora sim, chegou o Outono : )

Inner Peace = Happiness

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
- Mahatma Gandhi

Steve Jobs (1955 - 2011)

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
~ Steve Jobs (1955 - 2011).

Enthusiasm

The greek word enthusiasm (enþúsiasmos) comes from the words enðo (= in, within) and úsia (=essence, entity), meaning, from the God within. That is why we need so much to live with enthusiasm.

The real purpose of life is to be happy.
Don't die with your "music" kept inside.

- I felt sad today, but hope to stand up and feel the "sunshine" again. Hope you feel it too...

30 Habits that will change your Life ; )

Health Habits

1. Exercise 30 minutes every day. Especially if you don’t do much movement while working, it’s essential that you get some daily exercise. 30 minutes every day are the minimum recommended for optimal health.
2. Eat breakfast every day. Breakfast is the more important meal of the day, yet so many people skip it. Personally, I like to eat a couple of toasts in the morning along with a fruit beverage.
3. Sleep 8 hours. Sleep deprivation is never a good idea. You may think that you are gaining time by sleeping less, when in reality you are only gaining stress and tiredness. 8 hours are a good number of hours for most people, along with an optional 20 minutes nap after lunch.
4. Avoid snacking between meals. Snacking between meals is the best way to gain weight. If you are hungry, eat something concrete. Otherwise don’t. Update: for clarification, I mean don’t eat junk food between meals, but eating real food it’s ok.
5. Eat five portions of fruits and vegetables every day. Our body and brain loves getting vegetables and fruit, so I highly recommend eating as much of them as possible. Five portions is the dose that’s usually recommended by many health associations.
6. Eat fish. Fish is rich of omega 3 and other healthy elements. At least one meal per week of fish should be enough for getting all these nutrients.
7. Drink one glass of water when you wake up. When you wake up, your body is dehydrated and needs liquid. Make the habit of drinking one glass of water after you wake up in the morning. Also, drink more during the day.
8. Avoid soda. Soda is often one of the most unhealthy beverage you can find. Limit your consumption of soda as much as possible and you’re body will be grateful for that.
9. Keep your body clean. I don’t advise spending your day in front of the mirror, but a minimum of personal care does never hurt.
10. If you smoke, stop it. There’s no reason to smoke anymore, and quitting is possible.
11. If you drink, stop it. Same as above. Don’t think that alcohol will solve your problems. It never does. The only exception is one glass of wine per day during meals.
12. Take the stairs. This is just a hack that forces you to do a minimum of exercise. Instead of taking the elevator, take the stairs.

Productivity Habits

1. Use an inbox system. Make the habit of keeping track of all the ideas and things that comes to mind. You can use a notebook to do this, and then sync everything on your computer.
2. Prioritize. If you have a list of things to do, where do you start? One way is to prioritize your list. If you are in doubt, ask yourself: “If I could only accomplish one thing today, what would it be?”
3. Plan, but not too much. Planning is important, and you should decide in advance what you are going to do today or this week. However, planning for more than a few weeks is usually inefficient, so I would not worry too much about that.
4. Wake up early. Waking up early in the morning is a great way to gain extra time. I personally like to wake up at 5 am, so that by 9 am I have already accomplished what otherwise would have taken me many days..
5. Check your email only twice per day. Email can easily become an addiction, but it’s usually unnecessary to check it every 10 minutes. Make an effort and check your email only once or twice per day, see if the world will still rotate as before after you try this.
6. Eliminate unimportant tasks. Being busy all day does not mean you are doing important stuff. Eliminate every activity that’s not important, and focus on what really matters.
7. Clean off your desk and room. Having a clear room and desk is important to maintain focus and creativity.
8. Automate. There are a lot of tasks that you need to perform every day or every week. Try to automate them as much as possible.
9. Set strict deadlines. When you do something, decide in advance when you’re going to stop. There’s a rule that states that you will fulfill all the time you have available for completing a task, so make an habit of setting strict deadlines for maximizing your productivity.
10. Take one day off per week. Instead of working every day, take one day off per week (for example sunday) where you are not going to turn on your computer. Use that time for doing recreational activities like going for a walk.

Personal Development Habits

1. Read 1 book per week. Reading is a good way to keep your brain active. With just 30 minutes per day you should be able to read one book per week, or more than 50 books per year.
2. Solve puzzles. Quizzes, word games, etc. are all good ways to exercise your brain.
3. Think positively. You are what you think, all the time.
4. Make fast decisions. Instead of thinking for one hour wherever you are going to do something, make your decisions as fast as possible (usually less than 1 minute).
5. Wait before buying. Waiting 48 hours before buying anything is a tremendous money saver, try it.
6. Meditate 30 minutes per day. A great way to gain clearness and peace is through meditation. 30 minutes are not a lot, but enough to get you started with meditation.

Career Habits

1. Start a blog. Blogging is one of the best way to put your word out. It doesn’t have to be around a specific topic, even a personal blog will do.
2. Build a portfolio. If your job is creating stuff, building a portfolio is a great way to show what you are capable of. You can also contribute stuff for free if that applies to your work.

Le Mat, The Fool...

"... Though everyone calls him a Fool, he does not pay them any attention, and he simply goes on his way. Certainly what they say can be justified, since his ignorance of the world can lead him to do things that more experienced people would never imagine. But in these things he can find knowledge and enlightenment. He does not care what others think or say about him, because he knows that what he is doing is right for him.

His approach to life is a strange, unconventional one, because he does what is comfortable to him. This is a viewpoint not often supported in our modern world, in which "do as I say" is the commandment most followed. To those who have lived their life under this philosophy, the approach of the Fool may be extravagant, shocking, even frightening. But this approach is all that the Fool knows, and because the only approval he requires is his own, he will continue to live this way, despite what all others think of him. He has total faith in himself. Perhaps he is not such a fool after all".

Forget those old past experiences and how you got hurt. Trust in yourself and believe it's a new day. Don't carry with you so much luggage, leave it behind. You'll feel lighter, you'll learn new things...

"The tricky thing about psychological luggage is that it is invisible to us (although not to others), and we're so accustomed to carrying it wherever we go that we actually believe it's normal and even necessary to feel so burdened" - Sonia Choquette, in "Traveling at the speed of Love"

Dia 1 - Do Fundão à Barragem de Sta Luzia (Pampilhosa da Serra)
Dia 2 - Da Barragem de Sta Luzia ao Piodão
Dia 3 - Do Piodão à Pousada de Juventude das Penhas da Saúde

FOTOS:

Ganhei-me : )

following the path of Persistence I will

. Balance the feeling of social tension and my own unique view of the world.
. Exit the "Comfortable Zone".
. Avoid limiting habits.
. Challenge my own beliefs.

"I GET OUT"

Singing Chorus]
I get out, I get out of all your boxes
I get out, you can't hold me in these chains
I'll get out
Father free me from this bondage
Knowin' my condition
Is the reason I must change

[Verse 1]
Your stinkin' resolution
Is no type of solution
Preventin' me from freedom
Maintainin' your polution
I won't support your lie no more
I won't even try no more
If I have to die, oh Lord
That's how I choose to live
I won't be compromised no more
I can't be victimised no more
I just don't sympathize no more
Cuz now I understand
You just wanna use me
You say "love" then abuse me
You never thought you'd loose me
But how quickly we forget
That nothin' is for certain
You thought I'd stay here hurtin'
Your guilt trip's just not workin'
Repressin' me to death
Cuz now I'm choosin' life, yo
I take the sacrifice, yo
If everything must go, then go
That's how I choose to live

[Pause]

[Singing rest of Verse 1]
That's how I choose to live...
Hehehehe, awhh
No more compromises
I see past your diguises
Blindin' through mind control
Stealin' my eternal soul
Appealin' through material
To keep me as your slave

[Singing Chorus]
But I get out
Oh, I get out of all your boxes
I get out
Oh, you can't hold me in these chains
I'll get out
Oh, I want out of social bondage
Knowin' my condition
Oh, is the reason I must change

[Singing Verse 2]
See, what you see is what you get
Oh, and you ain't seen nothin' yet
Oh, I don't care if you're upset
I could care less if you're upset
See it don't change the truth
And your hurt feeling's no excuse
To keep me in this box
Psychological locks
Repressin' true expression
Cementin' this repression
Promotin' mass deception
So that no one can be healed
I don't respect your system
I won't protect your system
When you talk I don't listen
Oh, let my Father's will be done

[Singing Chorus]
And just get out
Oh, just get out of all this bondage
Just get out
Oh, you can't hold me in these chains
Just get out
All these traditions killin' freedom
Knowin' my condition
Is the reason I must change

[Singing Verse 3]
I just accepted what you said
Keepin' me among the dead
The only way to know
Is to walk then learn and grow
But faith is not your speed
Oh, you'd had everyone believe
That you're the sole authority
Just follow the majority
Afraid to face reality
The system is a joke
Oh, you'd be smart to save your soul
Oh, and escape this mind control
You spent your life in sacrifice
To a system for the dead
Oh, are you sure...
Where is the passion in this living
Are you sure it's God you servin'
Obligated to a system
Getting less then you're deserving
Who made up these schools, I say
Who made up these rules, I say
Animal conditioning
Oh, just to keep us as a slave

[Singing Chorus]
Oh, just get out
Of this social (?)-----> PURGATORY
Just get out
All these traditions are a lie
Just get out
Superstition killing freedom
Knowin' my condition
Is the reason I must die
Just get out
Just get out
Just get out
Let's get out
Let's get out
Knowin' my condition
Is the reason I must die
Just get out

Férias, Vacaciones, Vacations, Vacances, Vacanza, Urlaub, dovolená...

It's time for me to have a good rest.
To exhale, and put away stressful moments...
EXHALE!

I need to gather strength for the next semester.

I feel there is so much to accomplish and learn...

Mainly, I know I need to practice PERSISTENCE.
That is something I don't think I ever was, and I know I've lost many of life opportunities to be that happy-lucky person I'm always desiring to be because I didn't hold on when facing harder challenges.

I will learn on how to be persistent.
Starting with small challenges, and commitment.

I will be brave and live with grace.

de esta región tan sola,

sino la lluvia que cae sobre las aguas del mar,
nadie sino la lluvia que crece sobre el mar."

Definition of the word "FLOW" in Wikipedia

FLOW is the mental state of operation in which a person in an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity.

FLOW is completely focused motivation. It is a single-minded immersion and represents perhaps the ultimate in harnessing the emotions in the service of performing and learning. In flow, the emotions are not just contained and channeled, but positive, energized, and aligned with the task at hand.

To be caught in the ennui of depression or the agitation of anxiety is to be barred from flow. The hallmark of flow is a feeling of spontaneous joy, even rapture, while performing a task

So,
BE HAPPY IN THE PRESENT BUT WITH GREAT IDEAS FOR THE FUTURE
MOVE FROM STRESS AND ANXIETY TO FLOW

You must have goals, but you must feel happy before you attain those goals.
Keep yourself in flow. Discipline yourself to be happy.

A quick note:
Sometimes you have to "destroy" your life to find the next big thing.
Believe that when you love what you're doing and you have big dreams you'll enter that state of FLOW

take care of yourself my dear...

This video is about a girl who has rejected love, seeking to stay unattached & free - but love is actually freedom of the heart - & her love, all solitary, dies -

In search of freedom we think we need to be set free, but in truth we must seek what really holds us to this life. We need to appreciate our own roots, our own presence in this world. To set yourself free is to truly appreciate who you are and feel free of any discomfort.

If you're looking for your own self, ask what are the things you love to feel.
Practice them. Practice a good life...

Simple facts:

Before we can be good spiritual beings, we need to be good animals. That means:
- getting enough sleep;
- eating well
- exercising your body;
- taking it easy...

Excessive adrenaline, being constantly frenetic is harmful to you.
Find your own rhythm.

Get out of loopy thoughts, rumination in a bad mood is very toxic to yourself.
If you're in a bad mood, go out and do something to change your mood. Try a walk or a run.

Breathing is another way to change your mood.
"Fear is excitement without the breath"
Imagine you're blowing out some candles... pfffffffff
Blow out some steam ; )

We have no power to control the outcome of what we plant in our garden, but doing our best will surely bring us beautiful fruits and flowers...

Because:
Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” Mahatma Gandhi

... desapontamento.

A diferença e a prova do meu descontentamento: "Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." Baraka Obama

And from the same man:

"People don't expect government to solve all their problems. But they sense, deep in their bones, that with just a slight change in priorities, we can make sure that every child in America has a decent shot at life, and that the doors of opportunity remain open to all. They know we can do better."

"I wish this country had fewer lawyers and more engineers."

Momentum...

The Ego either wants to live in the Past, regretting what it could have done differently, or it lives in the Future, constantly afraid of what can happen. Don’t let it. Set yourself free. By now you’ll now what is it that you want: you’re probably thinking about it all the time, or you keep pushing it for later, or you keep it as a secret dream, as a secret wish.

“And so, for the sake of momentum
I'm condemning the future to death
So it can match the past.
Momentum - Aimee mann

Here’s a simple truth: without hard work, without commitment, without effort, you’re not getting anywhere you want.

So, live your dream, it’s inside of you. Every each day there’ll be new opportunities for you to succeed, but you really need to commit and work hard to get where you want.

Work hard towards your happiness and stop wasting time judging yourself or others.

Find what moves you, and act on it. Good luck for 2011.

Learn about tolerance, patience, understanding, simplicity...

Enjoy nature, the ocean, share songs with friends, feel the sun or the warmth of a fire camp.
Feel grateful

Feel unconditional love for yourself, you're your own best friend. Be kind to you. Hug yourself.

Feel passionate! Hug, kiss, laugh! Not that many other things really matter.

Feel the support of the people that love you, and share that. With a song, with a smile, with a hug.

 and work hard...
